After 92 consecutive days of 70 degrees and above high temperature at Portland Airport ending on Sept. 16, the weather made a hard switch to winter. Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood received its first snowfall for the 2017-2018 winter season today, despite summer officially ending in four days. Snow started falling Monday morning, lightly dusting the historic lodge and the landscape. Inside the lodge, the fireplaces on both levels were already crackling.
The National Weather Service in Portland reports that more snow is in the forecast this week.
